Trail markings

Well, it's a little late to tell you this, but the trail at Keystone is marked.  Orange ribbons on your left.  Ray is going out this week to put arrows up.  There aren't many places to get off-track, but I know you'll try.  The race will actually start at the bottom of the hill on the paved road that is, I think, called old highway 151.  Racers will ride up the hill on pavement and turn onto the gravel drive into the mtb trail parking area and then left onto the trail.  The course is about 6 miles long.  Cat 3 will do 1.5 laps; Cat 2 will do 2.5; Cat 1, 3.5.
It's rocky and technical during much of the course and there are several short, rocky climbs.  I rode it on Sunday and it was pretty muddy.  But Ray called yesterday and said the day of sunshine has already begun to dry out the trail.  He's been out doing a lot of trail maintenance, so with the predicted sunny days we're supposed to get all week the course should be perfect this Sunday.

Which means I'm going to get my ass kicked again and Jeff St. Clair is going to run away from the Cat 2's.

See you'all on Sunday.  Should be fun.

So, if you are a Cat 3 racer and are wanting to saddle up with the Big Boys on Big Wheels this your chance! Simply line up, pedal fast for a lap and a half and this Niner Air 9 Frame is yours! No tricks no strings attached! I had asked Niner for an EMD frame and brett@ninerbikes.com ponied up an Air 9! Renshaw and myself almost kept this thing for ourselves and replaced it with the promised EMD, but my goal was to give the Cat 3s something to fight over!

Confirmed Competition

I spoke with Scott Henry out of Austin and former teammate from the Trek/VW Squad and he is wanting to try and take my traditional win at Keystone.... money makes people do strange things!

Scott is bringing some other peeps up... another former Trek/VW Racer Sarah Krause and her hubby. I hear that Brian Fawley is affraid of getting worked over at Keystone by me and Scott... so he is racing the road somewhere?!?!

I put a bug in Tilford's ear about the race and he sounded interested, but he also mentioned that he has not been racing MTN much so, not sure on him.

If you are someone planning on attending or know of some other fast dudes coming, reply to this post and let us know!
